Privacy Policy

The Elegant Goose (“we,” “us”) is a small, family-run auction and sales site. This policy describes what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. We’ve tried to keep it in plain English, because we actually want you to read it.
What we collect
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and a password. Passwords are handled by our authentication provider (Supabase) and are never visible to us. You may also set a display name, which appears next to your bids.
Payment information. When you save a card or pay for an item, your card details go directly to Stripe, our payment processor. Your card number never touches our servers. We store only what Stripe returns to us: a customer reference, whether you have a card on file, and the name you enter as the cardholder.
Shipping information. When you save a card, we collect a shipping name and address so that items you win or buy can be sent to you. You can update this at any time from your account page.
Bidding and purchase history. We keep records of the bids you place and the items you buy. Bids are visible to other users only by display name.
Technical basics. Like every website, our hosting providers (Netlify, Supabase) keep standard server logs — IP addresses, request times, browser type. We use session cookies to keep you signed in. We do not run analytics trackers, advertising pixels, or social media embeds.
How we use it
- To run auctions and sales: taking bids, charging winning bidders, shipping items
- To send transactional email: account confirmation, password resets, and (when built) win and payment notifications. These come from no-reply@auth.theelegantgoose.com
- To keep the site secure: preventing fraud, enforcing our terms
- To respond when you contact us at 1elegantgoose@gmail.com
We do not sell, rent, or share your information with anyone for marketing. We do not send marketing email unless you have explicitly opted in to our mailing list, and every such email includes a way to opt out.
Who else touches your data
We use a small number of service providers, each of which handles data only to provide their service to us:
- Stripe — payment processing (their privacy policy)
- Supabase — authentication and database hosting
- Netlify — website hosting
- Resend — delivery of account email
We disclose information beyond this only if required by law.
How long we keep it
Account information is kept while your account is active. Purchase records are kept as long as we need them for tax and bookkeeping purposes. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove your profile and shipping information, and retain only the purchase records we are required to keep.
Your choices
- You can view and update your display name and shipping address from your account page
- You can request deletion of your account by emailing 1elegantgoose@gmail.com
- You can ask us what information we hold about you, and we’ll tell you
Children
This site is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Changes
If we change this policy, we’ll update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we’ll say so on the site.
